A carioca from Rio and a gringo from South Carolina, a microphone, and ten years of conversations about how Brazilian Portuguese actually works.
Alexia and Foster met, started talking, and never really stopped. She's from Rio and teaches by living the language. He's from South Carolina and learned it by asking a thousand questions. They turned those questions into a podcast, the podcast into worksheets, the worksheets into a course, and the whole thing into a community of learners in more than 140 countries.
Foster moved through Brazilian Portuguese the way most adults do: courses, apps, embarrassment, small wins. Alexia grew up inside the language and could feel exactly where learners go wrong. When they started recording their conversations, something clicked. His questions were everyone's questions. Her answers made the language make sense.
"The Brazilian who teaches by living. The gringo who learns by asking."
That pairing is still the whole idea. Alexia keeps it real, Foster keeps it honest, and learners get both sides of the conversation at once.
What started as two friends talking became one of the most-listened-to Brazilian Portuguese podcasts in the world. Ten years later, the mic is still on.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. Alexia teaches Brazilian Portuguese the way she speaks it, with all the warmth, slang, and speed of a real carioca conversation. She's the native ear that hears what learners can't yet.
From South Carolina, Foster learned Portuguese as an adult and runs the operations behind everything CC. He remembers every wall he hit, which is exactly why he's so good at helping you over yours.
We don't teach a language frozen on a page. We teach the one people speak: messy, musical, full of feeling. Tom Jobim said it best about this whole beautiful, impossible country.
“Brasil nรฃo รฉ para principiantes.”
Brazil is not for beginners. — Tom Jobim
Maybe not. But with the right two people next to you, it's a lot less daunting, and a lot more fun.
One of the most-listened-to Brazilian Portuguese podcasts in the world, since 2016.
"I've tried every app out there. Nothing comes close to learning from two people who clearly love this language and each other."
"Alexia and Foster feel like family now. I started listening in 2018 and I've never left."
"They make Brazilian Portuguese feel reachable. That's the whole gift, honestly."
Wherever you are, there's a door that fits.
Ten years in, we're still just two people who love this language and want you to love it too.
