Alexia and Foster met, started talking, and never really stopped. She's from Rio and teaches by living the language. He's from South Carolina and learned it by asking a thousand questions. Foster moved through Brazilian Portuguese the way most adults do: courses, apps, embarrassment, small wins. Alexia grew up inside the language and could feel exactly where learners go wrong. When they started recording their conversations, something clicked. His questions were everyone's questions. Her answers made the language make sense.
